Each Home Counts Review Newsletter 3 March 2017

Hello (and a goodbye…)

We are writing today with news of changes in the leadership of the Review Team. As Peter Bonfield announced at the launch event, his task as Chair is now complete and, with the publication and launch of the Review Report having been a success, he has decided the time is right to step down.

Peter, with full support from the Implementation Board, has now handed the task of driving the implementation of the Review’s recommendations to Howard Porter, CEO of BEAMA. Howard has been part of the Implementation Board since the beginning, leading the Home Energy Technologies workstream. He sets out his vision later in this newsletter.

As Howard will now be responsible for overall leadership, the Board has agreed that Kelly Butler will take forward the Home Energy Technologies workstream. Kelly has worked closely with Howard and has already played a key role in this section of the Review.

The Review Team are incredibly grateful to Peter for his time, energy and enthusiasm throughout the entire Review process. It has been a pleasure to work with him and we wish him well for the future.

Message from Howard Porter

The publication of the Each Home Counts Report marked the beginning of a new phase of the Review. The role of the Implementation Board is now about action and delivery, to focus on how we are going to take forward the recommendations in the Report and put them into practise.

The Review highlighted a range of challenges across the domestic energy efficiency and renewable energy sector. We now have an opportunity to work with stakeholders to transform the sector and develop a more professional industry that can deliver better value for consumers and promote growth.

This is not a Government-led plan. The recommendations in the Report have been made by industry and it is for industry to take them forward.  We have the support of Government but this will be a genuine team effort and, ultimately, it is for us to make things happen.

Each Home Counts Implementation Board Meeting

The Implementation Board met on Thursday 2 March to provide updates on the work that has been done since the launch and to discuss future plans. The Review Team are now preparing for the Spring workshop event where we will share and discuss draft implementation plans and delivery proposals. There will also be some smaller events in the near future focusing on the advice workstream and the quality mark. Details will be announced shortly.
