The Review Report
The proposed Review framework and recommendations aim to ensure the following aspects are addressed:

·        Technical competency required to protect life, health and safety, underpinned by regulatory powers to discipline those that fall below required levels of performance

·        Quality performance to ensure that measures are installed in a way that meets requirements for performance

·        Customer interfacing skills so that those operating within people’s home do so in a way that is respectful and in line with good customer services that might reasonably be expected of them

During this Review, industry have already been achieving quick win actions that align with these goals.  For example, the regulatory and technical disciplines required by the Health and Safety Executive and the Gas Safe Register for safely working on gas appliances has been brought together with the quality and consumer interfacing requirements of TrustMark in a project to ensure a complementary offering of effective consumer protection with rigorous technical compliance. It is this type of approach that the Review recommends for installation of energy efficiency and renewable technologies in the future.

Stakeholder Engagement
We are continuing to meet with various stakeholders to discuss the Review recommendations.  Prior to publication of the report, we do appreciate that without further detail of how the recommendations may fit together and be implemented, there could be some confusion around what the Review is proposing.  We hope to be able to publish soon and in the meantime if you have any questions about the recommendations then please get in touch.

We are delighted that a wide range of stakeholders have contacted us with their views, ideas and letters of support for the proposed recommendations. We appreciate all the correspondence we have received and we will be writing to everyone in due course, to respond to comments and thoughts.

We are aware that whilst we have tried to engage across the industry during the Review some of you may not have been able to fully contribute your views.  After we have launched the Review report we will be  informally inviting feedback on the recommendations and as we plan to move to an implementation phase there will be further opportunity to participate with the Review.

If you have not been able to engage  or be actively involved in the Review to date, but would like to get involved  in the implementation phase,  please get in touch,  stating your area of interest by emailing:  [email protected],
